We welcome repair work from out of town musicians.  Please contact us via email or phone before you ship an instrument for repair.  We prefer to discuss the type of repair needed and other repairs that may be required.  We rely on your description of the problem or repair needed.  We try to give an accurate quote on repairs without being able to see the instrument.

The full payment for the repair quoted and return shipping (add your shipping cost to the repair quote) is due when the instrument is received.  Payment can be made at the time of the quote via MasterCard, Visa, or Discover; or a money order can be sent with the instrument.  We will call if additional repairs are needed.  Payment for the additional amount will be arranged at this time.

Make sure that you pack the instrument snug inside a sturdy box.  "Balled up" newspaper is a good resource for packing material.   Make sure that all corners and any holes or tears on the box are taped.  Newspaper is a good resource for packing material.  Include a note with your name, address, home numbers, and email address.

Most brass and woodwind instruments fit "snug" in their cases.  Some stringed instruments (Guitars violins, …etc) will shift inside the case if the top and side do not fit tight.  Wrap  the instrument in a trash bag and use newspaper inside the case to keep the instrument from moving during shipping.  Some people prefer to loosen the strings during shipping.

We prefer to use UPS for shipping and receiving.  The US Postal Service Priority Mail is acceptable for small instruments such as piccolos, flutes, and clarinets.  We will return the instrument using the same carrier and packaging used from the customer.

Most carriers provide a certain amount of insurance.  However, you may want to verify the amount to make sure that it is equal to or greater than the value of the instrument being shipped.

Please allow a minimum of 2 weeks for repairs.  Sometimes we have to order parts and/or supplies to complete the repair work.  Allow 8-10 weeks for refinishing.
