We welcome repair work from out of town musicians. Please contact us via email or phone before you ship an instrument for repair. We prefer to discuss the type of repair needed and other repairs that may be required. We rely on your description of the problem or repair needed. We try to give an accurate quote on repairs without being able to see the instrument.

We have a walk-in service department with service personnel available during our regular store hours. Some repairs can be completed while the customer waits. Most repairs require leaving the instrument with us for a period of time to be determined by the service personnel.

Reinstalling the bridge and tuning machines on a Gibson Classical

Tenon cork replacement. Over time tenon corks get old abd brittle and need to be replaced.

A new piece of cork is measured, cut and prepared to be attached to the tenon.

The old cork has been removed and the tenon is cleaned and prepared to receive a new piece of cork.

The new cork is attached. The cork is smoothed for a seamless wrap.

Installing a Martin Second Generation Thinline Pickup.

First, the end pin needs to be removed. These pins are usually attached with a small amount of glue and can be easily pulled out.

With the pin removed, the hole needs to be enlarged to allow the endpin jack to be installed.

Masking tape around the hole while drilling will prevent the wood/finish from chipping.

The endpin jack is wired and installed. There is a nut behind the strap collar and inside the guitar that holds the jack in place.

The transducer is very thin and fits nearly any acoustic guitar. A small hole is drilled inside the saddle slot through the bridge for the wiring.
(Some Martin Guitars have a polit hole already drilled to fit the transducer.)

The saddle will need to be filed or sanded down to compensate for the height of the transducer. I use a straight edge and a marker to designate the area that I need to remove. A few seconds on the belt sander gives me the results I need to continue.

This is a good time to lower the action if necessary.

It is very important that the bottom remains perfectly flat. Otherwise the transducer may not respond properly if there are gaps between th transducer and the saddle.

A very old Amati tenor Saxophone.- Currently on the bench.

This sax had been sitting in the case for many years. It appears that some moisture was present or something had been spilled on the instrument.

After dissassembling the instrument. A few dips in the acid bath and some elbow grease brought back some shine. Some resoldering, rebending and post allignment was neccessary on this sax.

Lots of cork work on this one. Next we will reassemble the instrument, swedging the keys as needed.

The customer wanted all of the hardware changed to Gold.

New tuning machines, bridge, stop tail piece, toggle switch, pickup bracket, dome knobs, pickup covers, strap buttons, and mics screws.

Fender Mexican Strat.

The customer wanted a patriotic look.

We installed a new pickguard, pickup covers, Dimarzio Tone Zone (Bridge) with coil tap, and new knobs.
